CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The assumption microfungi could pose a threat to humans was brought ?center stage? with a $2.7 million jury verdict in Sacramento Superior Court (Mazza, 2001)- later upheld in the appellate process. This litigation has sent ?shock waves? that mold exposures can and do cause serious health problems, i.e., ?Medical Causation.?
The potential for liability of collateral damages such as civil litigation, medical and health recovery costs, and other associated economic losses is very real. The more one knows in preventing mold exposures from becoming an indoor problem, the less the potential for legal and/or medical problems to develop. This highly unique National Conference will provide indispensable education, to include the following:
? DAY ONE- A comprehensive understanding of Indoor Moisture Detection/Investigation, Environmental Testing, Litigation and Insurance Liability, and many other concerns of Indoor Mold Contamination and Personal Health Safety, Presented by Nationally-Recognized Experts. You will learn about the scientific aspects and known health effects of airborne fungal contaminants directly from leading experts in the field, and gain insight into the legal and liability issues that confront our courts and plague many commercial industries of today. At the end of each presentation you are invited to ask questions/express your concerns with professionals respected throughout the country.
? DAY TWO- Join some of America?s leading political figures, medical doctors and scientists as they take you through the medical and political realities of mold exposure related illnesses and introduce you to tomorrow?s healthcare, today. You will learn about the legislative changes emerging from local to national levels and the medical testing and treatment methods that are currently used. Other printed materials will include outlines/articles by program speakers.

ROBERT SINAIKO, M.D., a San Francisco Internist/Allergist is an impressively credentialed physician whose practice consisted of treating difficult cases involving complicated environmental and other allergies with experimental therapies. His work led to the frontier of advanced medical science, where there are no easy or well-trodden paths for clinical evaluation. In this, many a physician sent a family member or close relative for Dr. Sinaiko?s medical opinion or treatment processes. In 1998, as litigation and medical science were reaching new heights in courtrooms across the nation due to environmental mold exposures, Dr. Sinaiko was put on trial by the Medical Board of California, and his license revoked, for practicing what was ruled as ?fringe? medicine, even though not one patient had filed a complaint, testified against him, or had been shown to be harmed by his medical treatment practices- in fact, the opposite was concluded, his patients were demonstrating remarkable improvements. It was postulated by the Board ruling, that Dr. Sinaiko was practicing medical treatments outside ?Standard Medical Practice? in California. He was prescribing ?experimental drugs in four specific cases, including ?off-label? uses- for things other than what the medicine?s label called for. This, even though many physicians assert that they ?prescribe ?off-label? medicines to this respect, all the time. Currently, Dr. Sinaiko?s case is in Sacramento Superior Court on Appeal.? In 1998, word of this decision sent riveting ?shockwaves? throughout the medical community, as fungal diseases began to surface wide-scale throughout the nation.
