CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The assumption microfungi could pose a threat to humans was brought ?center stage? with a $2.7 million jury verdict in Sacramento Superior Court (Mazza, 2001)- later upheld in the appellate process. This litigation has sent ?shock waves? that mold exposures can and do cause serious health problems, i.e., ?Medical Causation.?
The potential for liability of collateral damages such as civil litigation, medical and health recovery costs, and other associated economic losses is very real. The more one knows in preventing mold exposures from becoming an indoor problem, the less the potential for legal and/or medical problems to develop.
